Learn surprising details about the surroundings

Although the area around Biserujka is mostly barren and rocky and at first seems rather uninteresting, it is characterized by several peculiarities worth looking into. Therefore Biserujka Cave and Slivanjska Cove are now connected by the Educational Trail enabling every visitor to learn surprising details about the surroundings by means of 5 info panels. The trail is actually a lovely 30-minute walk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The landscape along the Educational Trail can be divided into several levels, several different experiences and particular micro-units:

- Cultural landscape enclosed by stone walls near the Rudine village;

- Vast wind-swept landscape characterized by the strong north-easterly wind called Bora revealing clint pastures extending from Biserujka Cave to Slivanjska Cove (the clints by the north-westerly arm are more overgrown by bushes of the barbed juniper, while the clints by the south-westerly arm are almost completely stripped)

- Slivanjska Cove with a fertile soil terrace, romantic stone ruins of an unfinished restaurant and a port - the historic pier of the Rudine village, a picturesque sandy beach and a lovely islet and

- Underground landscape of this karst beauty known as Biserujka Cave, one of the most popular tourist attractions of the island, has to be mentioned here as well.

The Educational Trail will reveal all of these and many other interesting features as you go along.

Cave Biserujka

Rudine, island Krk, Croatia

Biserujka Cave is located on the island of Krk 300 meters north-west of the Rudine village. The cave is adjusted to tourists and offers a wealth of cave decorations - calcareous sinters, stalagmites, and stalactites. According to a speleological classification, it represents a simple cave with mouth that lead into a gently sloping cave channel. Its underground areas include: Mouth, Balcony, Shaft, Great Hall, Northern Channel, Arched Hall and Cypress Hall.
